Can you present your company in a few words?
For almost a century, the Rougier Group has been « managing the forest and bringing wood to life », as our slogan states. Responsible forest management is our core business. Historically based in Gabon (Rougier Gabon) and Congo (Mokabi), the Rougier group, for which some 1,500 men and women work every day, markets quality wood products throughout the world, certified by two independent international organizations.
What is the Carrefour International du Bois for you?
This is a key event for professionals in the timber sector and particularly for Rougier, the African leader in responsible timber. The Carrefour International du Bois allows us to meet our historical business partners in a friendly setting, but also to meet new partners, by presenting our expertise and know-how in responsible forest management. It is also an opportunity to discuss important issues for our sector, such as wood processing, carbon recovery and the dynamics of forest certification, with leading figures.
What are your expectations for this new edition?
In addition to promoting the quality of Rougier products, we want to raise awareness of the importance of operating as a responsible company, in line with the principle of adaptive management. Sustainable development is central to our business, and it is up to us to work to raise awareness of the fact that the forest is a precious heritage that needs to be preserved for future generations. Because guaranteeing the integrity of forest ecosystems also means contributing to the fight against global warming.
